The Galway Music Residency ( formerly The Galway Ensemble in Residence)

Our Approach

We identified the need for a new identity and positioning of the residency which would articulate the purpose of the programme, would allow it to be more inclusive for musicians and audience members alike and which would banish any further confusion around the issues outlined above. This involved:

  • Composing the new name : “The Galway Music Residency”
  • Creating a new programme which would be reflective of this new, all inclusive residency
  • Briefing a design agency and managing the redesign of the logo and rebranding of the residency to include all print work (including brochures, flyers and corporate paperwork) and a brand new online presence including social media
  • Managing and co-ordinating the re-launch event
  • Directing a supporting comprehensive media and public relations campaign.

The Measurement:

The new name and logo were very well received by guests, friends and sponsors at the re-launch event. The new name and positioning of the residency was further endorsed by the Director of The Arts Council, Mary Cloake, who attended as guest of honour and pledged her ongoing support of the programme in person on the day. Extensive local and national coverage including a photocall which unveiled a new image for the ensemble in residence – Con Tempo - on the day, further helped to reposition the programme and raise its profile on a national and local level.

The Task

This popular music residency was having difficulty with its identity on a local and national level. There was a lot of confusion around what they were, who they were (many people thought it was solely about the quartet in residence) and what services they offered. Clarity was needed and solutions were called for.
